The Western Oval is located in West Footscray and was the home ground of the Footscray Football Club from 1884 (they entered the VFL in 1925) through to 1997 (except for a brief period at nearby Yarraville Oval between 1941 to 1943). The ground was renamed Whitten Oval in honour of Footscray legend Ted Whitten.

Billy tells the tale of Danny Frawley's last game of football in 1995. He points out the famous Dougie Hawkins wing, the Footscray Hospital (where badly injured players were taken) and the area behind the goal posts where the Footscray version of the Bluebirds would stand.
